Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh collaborated with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh to re-imagine children and teen spaces at eight of their neighborhood branches across Pittsburgh. The goal of the project was to help the Library better serve its expanded afterschool activities and early childhood programs, while activating their open-access play spaces. Some of the additions included updated versions of our Light Peg Walls and Train Tables; multisurface play centers; unique reading pods, aka Cocoon Chairs; made-to-order computer stations; work tables and custom display fixtures designed for maker activities and study spaces; and mobile benches.
The neighborhood library branches that were part of the renovation are Brookline, East Liberty, Homewood, Lawrenceville, Main Branch, Sheraden, Squirrel Hill and Woods Run.
